General Information General Information
Set/Props Information
Shows in the Loeb Ex have access to the Loeb shop for construction of their sets and props. The grid can be used to suspend heavy set pieces and drops, and permanent moveable flats are already in place (full height by 4'). See plans for further details. The space is a neutral black box with a narrow balcony and an overhead grid. The hanging hard flats allow you to break up the space or even create a wall across it. There are several different heights (8" increments) of audience risers that can be arranged in any desired fashion. Lighting Information
Lighting in the Ex can be nice, since the space is fairly flexible and well-equipped. Unfortunately, some of the lights are a bit old and unreliable, and it's sometimes a trial to get everything working just right. Luckily, accessories and even lighting units can be borrowed from the ART on request, so most anything can be accomplished with a little effort. The space itself is a very neutral black box; any set must be created essentially from scratch. Set designers tend to end up hanging lots of things from the grid, so it's worth checking with them to make sure there won't be any interference with lights. The lightboard is on a custom stand with monitor and houselight dimmer. This is on a long cable and can be placed almost anywhere in the balcony or even on the floor. Sound Information
The Ex has a full in-house sound system installed in a rolling rack which can be placed anywhere in the balcony. Speakers can be installed anywhere in the space. PlansSource available in AutoCAD DWG format. See J. Michael Griggs' page for additional formats.
